Breakin’ in the new millennium

Welcome, to the new millennium. Everyone in the team is looking forward to a successful new year. Chrissy has just returned from a much needed break to Australia (its alright for some), ready to get into more writing. Still more tracks are being created and will be for the next new months. There will also be some live dates coming up starting with the Flapper and Firkin in Birmingham on Friday 4th Feb.

Gig roundup

The last two gigs of the year have gone extremely well – London Imperial College and Stafford University both went down a storm.

Plans for a tour of around 20 UK dates at the beginning of 2000 are in progress, so check back for updates soon.

Summer Gigs roundup

The Scala in London was the usual riot – the band are making plans for at least one more date there this year. The LRAP99 also went extremely well, and Centre FM managed to grab the band for a quick interview straight off stage, followed by a photo shoot for the local press. Other news concerns a deal with Groove Distribution in Chicago for the American market. Contact them for further info or US sales. Meanwhile… Plutonik have locked themselves in the studio to work on second album tracks, only coming out to play a few more gigs before the end of the year – See you there !

Successful Paris Club Gig

Paris was a great success – Alan managed to get bitten by a rottwieler, security attempted to throw the band out at about 6am despite the fact that all the gear was still on stage and nobody ate for about 24 hours. Despite this it really was a success ! Plans for a short French tour are currently on the table as vinyl was also greatly received there.

Loads of great reviews flooding in for the album, and Tower Records have Prime Numbers at No.18 in their album chart, putting it on listening posts nationwide.
The band are preparing for the next live dates, kicking off with Ronnie Scott’s next Saturday 14th, where they headline the penultimate night of the highly acclaimed Songwriter’s Festival.

Londinium on Radio 1

Londinium is out and being played on Radio 1, MTV, SKY as well as many regional stations. The band have been on Carton’s RAW TV and Birmingham LIVE being interviewed and playing the new video. Listen out for album tracks on Gilles Peterson’s Radio 1 show, thursday nights.

Preparing for Ronnie Scott’s

After the success of the Medicine Bar gig, the band are in rehearsals to extend the set for Ronnie Scotts‘ on June 20th. They are also promoting the second single, Londinium, which will be out on June 21st, and has already raised some storming reviews and radio play all over the country. Now confirmed, Paris 10th July. More live dates are to be announced very soon, including London and Brighton.

Single Released

The single hit the shelves yesterday, and if you’re near Birmingham you can hear it on the listening posts at Tower Records. Major stores have it in stock or are taking orders for it, but it’s also available through mail order.

The band have just released two live dates in Birmingham; The Medicine bar at the Custard Factory 19th May, and Ronnie Scotts 20th June. More dates and details coming soon. Hope to see you there !

Single Delay

Due to unforseen circumstances (aliens, genetics and government espionage etc…), the debut single Sitting on Top of the World has been delayed for two weeks, and will now be on sale at most major retailers on Tuesday May 4th. The good news however, is that the single will now also be available on vinyl released the same day.

Soundtrack

Sitting on Top of the World has been snapped up by film director John McCormack for the soundtrack to his latest feature-length Britflick, “The Van Boys“. This gritty Manchester-based black comedy/thriller already boasts tracks from New Order, Johnny Marr, T-Rex and Cliff Richard ! and stars Scott Williams (Backbeat, Swing), Paul Usher (Brookside, Liverpool 1) and Malcolm Pitt (The Full Monty, Cops).

After a chance hearing of the pre-release promo of Plutonik’s forthcoming debut, John McCormack needed no convincing that the dark but melodic Sitting on Top Of the World was right for the film. Already featured and hotly tipped by Total Film magazine and various tabloids, The Van Boys will be premiered at The Cannes Film Festival between 13-19 May.

Waiting for Single Release

Plutonik are currently awaiting the release of their debut single Sitting on Top of the World, on April 19th.  It has already received several reviews with more expected over the coming weeks.  Meanwhile, the band are busy rehearsing for live dates soon to be announced – check back for more details. They are also working on the B sides for the third single in their new studio.

The website is now officially on-line, on the contacts page you will find an email address to contact Integrity Records. Coming soon will be a mailing list so be sure to return and add your email to the list to receive all the latest news about the band.  We will also be glad of your comments/suggestions about the content of the site.
